Asked to make an information design piece with data that relates to me, I created this interactive map that reveals the average rent prices for an efficiency apartment in a sampling of the zip codes (3,000 zip codes- it would have taken nearly a month to acquire the rent information about all of the zip codes in the country!) in the contiguous 48 United States. This is based heavily on the information visualization techniques in Ben Fry's project Zipdecode.
The color of the dots varys from light to dark green to show how much the average rent price is in each zip code, and you can get more information about a zip code by clicking on it.
